Ecological survey is the basis of any conservation management work as well as being a legal requirement for many types of development. We can offer a range of surveying services depending on the client's requirements.

For Woodland Management

Woodland survey forms the basis of all our woodland conservation management. We can also produce independent ecological assessments for woodland management. All our surveys include assessment of notable species such as Dormice and Bats which would affect management operations under the new European Habitats Regulations. We can also carry out Conditions, Opportunities and Threats Assessments as part of Forestry Commission grant applications. We also carry out individual tree surveys where tree safety needs to be assessed.

For Conservation Management

We can carry out initial Phase I Habitat Surveys, NVC Surveys and Habitat Assessments on which to base management plans for conservation sites. We can also set up baseline surveys where habitat change needs to be monitored after changes in the management regime.

For Farms

We can produce Farm Environment Records to accompany Environmental Stewardship Applications as well as Farm Environment Plans for Higher Level Stewardship.

For Site Development

We can do initial Ecological Surveys for sites where there is a planned change of use. These will cover environmental designations affecting the site, the presence of any notable species and details of their legal protection requirements and recent records of any notable species on site and nearby where it is relevant. We can also advise on techniques to ensure habitats are protected or enhanced during development. Tree surveys can be carried out to assess tree safety or to inform judgments about tree retention.

For Small Sites

Private ownership of small fields and woodlands has increased in recent years. We offer a smaller scale habitat assessment to suit these sites, ensuring that management is appropriate and providing an insight into the habitats on site.
